An Inside Scoop on the Professional FIFA Scene in Malaysia and How to Be Part of It!
A sneak peek into the developing scene of Malaysian eSport
Malaysian football fans and those around the world have had the chance to play as their heroes since FIFA International Soccer kick started the FIFA video game franchise in 1993.
Now well into its second decade, the franchise has seen its more recent installments play host to an increasing number of tournaments – with prize pools rising steadily as well. The current installment, FIFA ‘16, was a part of two major Malaysian eSports tournaments in the past 6 months – Malaysia Cyber Games (MCG) 2015 and ASEAN Games for E-Sports (AGES) 2016 – and saw homegrown player Amirul “AmTuah” Afandi of Red Bull Malaysia-sponsored Team Infinite being crowned champion at both events.
FIFA is one of the three most popular eSports titles in Malaysia – alongside Dota 2 and CS:GO, and 2016 looks to be a promising year of growth for the fledgling Malaysian Professional FIFA scene. At RBEZ, we know many of you will be interested in becoming a part of the developing Malaysian Professional FIFA scene, but the lingering question is: How?
The answer is simple: Seek out and participate in as many smaller tournaments as you can, prove your mettle, and rise through the ranks to become the very best, like no one ever was. *cue Pokémon theme song*
